Seven-step care guide

A complete care routine for crystal jewelry.

Follow the process in order—from preparing a safe workspace to storing the piece and responding to moisture or damage. These steps protect the surface, cord and components without overstating what any single method can do.

Crystal bracelet on a soft cloth with clean dry hands and a padded jewelry tray

Prepare a clean, soft workspace

Start with clean, completely dry hands and work over a clear, softly padded surface. This keeps the jewelry visible and reduces the chance of a bead, clasp or finding striking a hard floor.

  • Lay out a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Keep a padded tray or open jewelry box within reach.
  • Read the product page first when it includes material-specific instructions.
  • Do not begin with water, soap, polish or household cleaner nearby.

Inspect every part before wearing

Hold the piece over the soft cloth and check it in good light. Move slowly from one end to the other so small changes are easier to notice.

  • Look for chipped or cracked beads and sharp edges.
  • Check elastic for thinning, fraying, looseness or exposed knots.
  • Check clasps, jump rings, pins and decorative findings for gaps or bending.
  • Stop and set the piece aside if its construction appears weakened.

Put jewelry on last

Apply perfume, lotion, sunscreen, hair products and makeup first, then wait until your skin is dry before putting jewelry on. This limits residue on stones, elastic and metal components.

  • Roll an elastic bracelet gently over the hand instead of pulling it wide.
  • Handle necklaces and earrings by their clasp or finding, not by the stone alone.
  • Keep the piece away from zippers, bag straps and rough fabric that can snag it.
  • Do not force a bracelet that feels too tight; choose the correct size.
Hand removing a crystal bracelet before showering, swimming, exercise, cleaning and sleep

Remove it before water, activity and sleep

Take the piece off before bathing, swimming, exercise, housework or sleep. Moisture, chemicals, sweat, repeated impact and accidental pulling can affect cord, finishes and softer stones.

  • Remove it before entering a shower, pool, ocean, sauna or hot tub.
  • Take it off before exercise, cleaning, gardening and hands-on work.
  • Remove it before sleep to avoid pressure, snagging and stretched elastic.
  • Place it directly on a soft cloth or in a tray instead of on a sink edge.

Wipe it after every wear

Lay the piece flat and support it while cleaning. Use a clean, dry microfiber or other non-abrasive lint-free cloth to remove surface oils and residue.

  • Wipe each bead gently rather than pulling the whole strand through the cloth.
  • Use a clean section of cloth for metal findings and closures.
  • Do not soak, steam or scrub the piece.
  • Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner, jewelry dip, alcohol or household cleaner unless the product page explicitly says it is suitable.
Crystal bracelet, pendant and earrings stored flat in separate padded compartments

Store each piece separately

Make sure the jewelry is fully dry, then store it flat and relaxed in its own padded compartment or soft pouch. Separate storage reduces scratches, tangles and pressure on elastic or delicate findings.

  • Keep pieces away from harder jewelry and sharp metal edges.
  • Store bracelets without stretching the elastic around a stand.
  • Choose a cool, dry place away from bathrooms, windows and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Close the box or pouch to limit dust while avoiding airtight storage if the piece is still damp.

Act carefully if it becomes wet or damaged

If the piece becomes wet, place it on a dry cloth and blot gently. Let it air-dry flat at room temperature before storing it. If you notice damage, stop wearing it until it has been assessed.

  • Do not use a hair dryer, heater or prolonged direct sunlight to speed drying.
  • Do not glue, retie or bend damaged components while the piece is under tension.
  • Keep loose beads and components together in a small tray or pouch.
  • For a recent order, photograph the issue and contact us with the order number and product name.
Can I wear my bracelet in water?

We recommend removing it before prolonged contact with water. Moisture, pool chemicals and salt water can affect cord, metal findings and some finishes.

How often should I clean crystal jewelry?

Give it a gentle dry wipe after each wear, especially after warm weather or contact with skin products. A more detailed visual inspection every few wears helps you notice residue, weakened elastic or loose findings early.

Can I leave crystal jewelry in sunlight?

Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Some stones and finishes can change with extended light or heat exposure. Store jewelry in a shaded, dry location and follow the individual product page when it gives more specific guidance.

What should I do if the elastic loosens or a finding opens?

Stop wearing the piece so it does not separate unexpectedly. Place it flat in a tray or pouch, keep any loose components together, and contact us if you need help identifying the safest next step.
